During those years she worked off and on in the technology industry. Shawn has traveled extensively abroad. In 1989 she was personally selected to travel round-trip from Los Angeles, California to Tokyo, Japan on the President Ronald Reagan Friendship Flight, a two-week lecture tour conducted by the President and Nancy Reagan. Mary Shawn is a member of the National Society of Washington Family Descendants and Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoys photography, financial investing, history and genealogical research.
