Tristan, der Sohn Riwalins von Parmenien und Blanscheflurs, der Schwester Markes von Cornwall, wird nach dem fr hen Tod seiner Eltern vom treuen Marschall seines Vaters, Rual li Foitenant, erzogen und kommt nach mannigfachen Abenteuern zu seinem Onkel, K nig Marke von Cornwall. Nachdem Tristan seinem Onkel gegen Morold geholfen hat und er Morold im Zweikampf besiegte und t tete, muss Tristan nach Irland reisen, da er sich von Morolds vergiftetem Schwert eine t dliche Verwundung zugezogen hat. Nur die K nigin Isolde von Irland verf gt ber die Kenntnisse und F higkeiten, diese Wunde zu heilen, da auch sie es war, die das Schwert ihres Bruders Morold mit dem Gift tr nkte. Gottfried von Stra burg (ca um 1215) war einer der bedeutendsten deutschsprachigen Dichter des Mittelalters. Er lebte Ende des 12. und Anfang des 13. Jahrhunderts und war Zeitgenosse von Hartmann von Aue, Wolfram von Eschenbach und Walther von der Vogelweide.
