Author Biography
Vance Trimble, born in Arkansas in 1913, worked 47 years as newspaper reporter or editor in Oklahoma, Texas, Kentucky, and Washington, D. C. As news editor of Scripps-Howard's bureau in Washington, he won the 1960 Pulitzer Prize (plus two others) for national reporting for his exposé of Congressional nepotism and payroll abuse. He authored 13 hardcover books, mainly biographies of such as Sam Walton, FedEx's Fred Smith, baseball commissioner "Happy" Chandler, publisher E.W. Scripps, as well as a history of hyperbaric medicine. In 2011 he began converting some books to Kindle and Nook of which this is the sixth.
