In The Longevity Source, I have combined over 20 years of vegan/raw food/ superfood dietary experience and integrative healthy lifestyle exploration with the most critical, timely and helpful insights I have been blessed to receive in this last year and a half. After publishing my Vegan Inspiration cookbook seven years ago I felt sure it was the culmination of all I could possibly contribute to health and wellness. Then, what started over a year ago with a one-week raw food, mind/body cleansing program at Optimum Health Institute led to deeper research in many areas. This in-depth focus includes the exploring of an 80-20 raw to cooked diet with viewing many DVDs and online webinars by many of the leaders in longevity, health, sustainability, etc. Often, these leading pioneers revealed startling levels of widespread, serious and unnecessary health/environmental problems, as well as real solutions and fundamental ways of co-creating awareness and change Over 20 years ago one of the most profound, wise, and comprehensive holistic health teachers I have ever known asked me a life changing question, "how do you expect to find peace and happiness when you are eating pain and suffering?" Being that I was brought up in Hawaii, where the family business was one of the biggest restaurant food supply companies, embracing a plant based diet was a monumental shift. After reading John Robbins book, Diet for a New America, I deepened my commitment to embracing the plant based diet and lifestyle. That choice then led me to my unknown, innate, skills as a chef/caterer and passion for understanding holistic health with an exploration of Buddhist and Hindu philosophy. My greatest hope is that my book, which is the most important and useful information I have found, is of service.
