The muscle of the crew, a Mexican laborer, who strikes the foreman's maul with a one-hundred-and-twenty-pound sledgehammer, goes missing on a job site in New Jersey over the holiday weekend and his foreman, maul holder, Umberto, a sixty three year old Puerto Rican from the Bronx, goes looking for him. The third member that makes up the Gotham Minor's crew, is an intellectual socialite defector from Marida. A brilliant scholar who has escaped to America running from the shadow of his publically acclaimed, skirt-chasing father. "When the Furniture Comes", is an allegory about the death of the working class. A comedic drama, this Manhattan construction tale is spun through the lives of many tradesmen, coping and struggling amid the absurdity of modern times.
