SimQuick is a freely-distributed Excel spreadsheet (with macros) for building simulation models of processes: waiting lines, supply chains, manufacturing facilities, and project scheduling. SimQuick is easy to learn, easy to use, and flexible in its modeling capability. Recently updated (2016), it has been used in industry and in educational settings since 2001. The booklet supports either a quick introduction to process simulation (in as little as an hour or two of class time or independent reading), or a more in-depth treatment. Author Biography
David Hartvigsen received a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University in 1984. After a stint on the faculty of the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, he joined the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame. His research interests are in the field of operations research and his work has appeared in a variety of mathematics and operations research journals. Professor Hartvigsen has taught Operations Management, Statistics, and Spreadsheet Modeling to traditional MBAs, executive MBAs, and undergraduate business majors. He has twice won the Outstanding Teacher Award in Mendoza's Executive MBA Program.
