Todos los Evangelios Sin pticos, que describen el ministerio de Jes s, tienen un final que indica el rumbo de la misi n de la iglesia (Mt. 28:19, 20; Mr. 16:15; Lc. 24:45-48). En el caso particular de Lucas, esta continuidad hist rica de la misi n de Jes s en la iglesia es afirmada con mayor nfasis. En las ltimas l neas de su Evangelio, Lucas recuerda la promesa de Jes s: "Ahora voy a enviarles lo que ha prometido mi Padre; pero ustedes qu dense en la ciudad hasta que sean revestidos del poder de lo alto." Es haciendo referencia a esta misma promesa que Lucas comienza su relato de las primeras experiencias misioneras de la iglesia. "Una vez, mientras com a con ellos, les orden No se alejen de Jerusal n, sino esperen la promesa del Padre, de la cual les he hablado." El elemento conectivo entre ambas misiones-la de Jes s y la de la iglesia es el Esp ritu Santo. El mismo Esp ritu Santo que obr poderosamente a lo largo del ministerio de Jes s (Lc. 3:16, 22; 4:1, 14), es el que opera en la iglesia y la llena de poder para ir al mundo con el testimonio del evangelio del reino. Como se ala Yves M. J. Congar: "Para los Hechos de los ap stoles, el Esp ritu Santo es esencialmente el principio din mico del testimonio que asegura la expansi n de la iglesia." En este sentido, de todos los recursos posibles para la iglesia, el Esp ritu Santo es el m s accesible y el m s poderoso. El Esp ritu Santo es el gran recurso y asistente con el que cuenta la iglesia para el cumplimiento de su misi n. Jes s fue bien claro cuando prometi "cuando venga el Esp ritu Santo sobre ustedes, recibir n poder y ser n mis testigos ... hasta los confines de la tierra" (Hch. 1:8).
Author Biography
El apóstol Henry Álvarez nació en Venezuela y es el segundo hijo de Ramón V. Álvarez y Lesbia M. de Álvarez. Durante los veranos de 1983 a 1985, asistió a la Instituto Bíblico Central de las Asambleas de Dios en Barquisimeto. En 1987, se graduó de la Universidad de Zulia, Venezuela, obteniendo un título profesional en medicina, Doctor en Medicina, equivalente internacional certificado por World Education Services, Inc. En 1999 se graduó en la Escuela de Evangelización, JSM, en Crowley, Texas. En el 2005 ingresó a la Universidad Oral Roberts, donde estudio: Master of Divinity, Master of Arts en Literatura Bíblica (Concentración Literatura) y Master of Arts en Consejería Cristiana (Concentración en Terapia Familiar y Matrimonial); además tiene un doctorado en educación (E.d.D.) y un doctorado en teología pastoral (P.h.D) obtenido en la Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico.
