Anthony Mortimer has taught at universities in Croatia, Italy, the United States, and Germany and the University of Geneva before his appointment In 1978 as Professor of English Literature at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. He is a member of the Swiss Academy of the Arts and Social Sciences and In 1995-96 was Visiting Research Fellow at Merton College, Oxford. Most of his scholarly work has been in the field of early modern English poetry.
