Harold, Associate Professor of History at the University of Virginia, is the author of The Rise and Fall of the Garvey Movement in the Urban South, 1918-1942. Juan Battle, Professor of Sociology, Public Health, and Urban Education at the CUNY Graduate Center, is coeditor of Free at Last? Black America in the Twenty-First Century.
