Se refiere a los dos períodos de gobierno del Partido Revolucionario Cubano (Auténtico), con Ramón Grau San Martín y Carlos Prío Socarrás, éste último derrocado por otro golpe militar de Fulgencio Batista en 1952. Precisamente al final de la presidencia de Grau San Martín, en septiembre de 1947, se produjo el más extenso enfrentamiento armado urbano de nuestra historia, una balacera que duró tres horas y fue llamado por la prensa Tiroteo de Marianao o Sucesos de Orfila, sin duda una de las más lamentables experiencias de violencia política que ha sufrido el pueblo de Cuba.
