by Sergio Rubin (Author), Francesca Ambrogetti (Author)

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

By the authors of The Jesuit, this new book is the result of ten years of conversations with Pope Francis, in which he did not elude any issue regarding his life or a papacy that changed--and keeps on changing--the Church.

When Jorge Mario Bergoglio was elected as the 266th Pope of the Catholic Church, many wondered who was this cardinal from the distant country of Argentina. The answer was in the book The Jesuit, published in 2010, in Buenos Aires, condensing a conversation that Italian journalist Francesca Ambrogetti and Argentinian journalist Sergio Rubín had over a two-year period with the future Pope. The book, quickly becoming a bestseller worldwide, revealed the clues to the personality and mind of a man who would become Pope Francis. After being elected, the authors suggested a new book where he could elaborate on how he has faced the challenges of his Papacy. For instance:

- His fight against the scourge of sexual abuse committed by members of the clergy.
- His actions in favor of transparency of Vatican finances.
- The resistance he met advancing towards a more open and understanding Church in regard of the diverse realities of men and women, austere, and particularly committed to helping the poor.
- His efforts in support of the environment and world peace.
