He graduated from Mico Teachers College in (1975) and was Acting Principal of St Mary's All Age School, St. Catherine, Jamaica, in (1978). Othniel earned degrees from Moravian College in Bethlehem, and graduate degrees from Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania (2009).
