David Placer (Caracas, 1978) se ha convertido en periodista experto en la vida y negocios de los altos jerarcas del chavismo en España. Ha seguido la pista del dinero y las tramas empresariales de los hombres que han multiplicado su fortuna durante los gobiernos de Hugo Chávez y Nicolás Maduro. En 2013, antes de la muerte del líder de la Revolución Bolivariana, inició esta sorprendente investigación que desvela la faceta más supersticiosa del chavismo. Su primer libro, Los brujos de Chávez, ha sido éxito de ventas en Amazon y ha sido reseñado en más de 130 medios de 19 países. En España, trabaja para el diario Economía Digital. Con anterioridad, prestó sus servicios en El Periódico de Cataluña, donde escribió durante más de siete años sobre los graves problemas sociales del extrarradio de Barcelona que surgieron a raíz de la crisis económica. También ha colaborado con el diario El Mundo y con The Huffington Post, en España. Estudió Comunicación Social en la Universidad Central de Venezuela y comenzó su carrera en el diario El Nacional. En 2002 se trasladó a Barcelona, España, donde cursó el Máster de Tecnologías Digitales de la Universidad Pompeu Fabra y el Máster de Periodismo organizado por la Universidad de Barcelona y la Universidad de Columbia, de Nueva York.
