Its first public act, in May 1971, was a protest against the idea of motherhood as the goal for all women. The group split in early 1974, with the largest faction going on to create the Movimiento de Liberación de la Mujer (Women's Liberation Movement), with the explicit objective of identifying itself with the international feminist movement. Author Biography
Ana Sofía Rodríguez (Ciudad de México, 1991) estudia Historia en la UNAM. Es miembro de la redacción de la revista Nexos y actualmente edita la parte cultural en línea de esta publicación. Junto con Luciano Concheiro, es autora del blog La rotativa.
Marta Lamas (Ciudad de México, 1947) es una antropóloga mexicana, hija de padres argentinos, que se ha distinguido por su activismo como feminista. Estudió etnología en la Escuela Nacional de Antropología e Historia y realizó una maestría en Ciencias Antropológicas por la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Ha sido integrante de comités editoriales en la UNAM y en el Fondo de Cultura Económica. Es socia fundadora del diario La Jornada y fundadora de la revista fem, la primera revista feminista en México.
