Today Palestinians face complete forfeiture of their homeland. While pressing both parties to return to the negotiating table, the United States, other western powers or the Arab states have failed to halt Israeli land theft by settlement building on land confiscated from Palestinians or to slow expulsion of Palestinians from East Jerusalem. Lacking help from the civilized world, the Palestinian people are condemned when they fight back. The outside world insists that they be non-violent as their homeland is forcibly taken away from them.

The writer is a retired Senior Foreign Service Officer with over 30 years experience in various diplomatic assignments, including tours in Egypt, Syria, India, Brazil, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka. In retirement he has worked extensively on how to deal with politically motivated violence, including how to measure the effectiveness of programs in this field. He is author, co-author and editor of seven books on foreign affairs and politically motivated violence topics, including Fighting Back-Winning the War on Terrorism with Neil Livingstone, and Terrorism the New Warfare with former Iran Hostage Moorhead Kennedy. He is a graduate of Stanford University, has an MA in Political Science and Economics from San Jose State University. He currently teaches in the adult education (LIFE) program of the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and now serves as President of the Rotary Club of Stevens Point Wisconsin.
