Mónica Fernández-Aceytuno nace el 4 de mayo de 1961 en Villa Cisneros, Sáhara Español. Licenciada en Ciencias Biológicas por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid decide, tras vivir medio año en Alaska, dedicarse a la divulgación de la Naturaleza, instalándose a su regreso en la aldea gallega de los antepasados de su marido e hijos, desde donde escribe para la Prensa, labor por la cual recibió en 2003 el Premio Nacional de Medio Ambiente, entre otros reconocimientos. Dirige los microdocumentales sobre la fauna y flora española Clips Natura Fundación Aquae, además de escribir artículos mientras cultiva lo que denomina la Tercera Rama: "Existe una Tercera Rama, entre las rama de las Ciencias y la rama de las Letras, donde anidan los pájaros". Desde el 3 de mayo de 2012 elabora la obra en curso Diccionario Aceytuno de la Naturaleza, cuyos términos se pueden consultar en www.aceytuno.com.
