Otros historiadores y periodistas han obviado su existencia, as como la persecuci n de que fue objeto y su compromiso de lucha pol tica antifranquista; han ocultado a la sociedad espa ola y a la for nea estos hechos, porque para ellos s lo exist an los grandes personajes o cuadros intelectuales, aunque no tuvieran una amplia base social comprometida que les siguiera. El carlismo de esa la poca, que se opuso con contundencia a una Falange y a una dictadura totalitaria, fue un colectivo mon rquico tradicionalista, foral y cat lico, pero con unos planteamientos sociopol ticos que apuntaban un tipo de democracia no partitocr tica, pero participativa y quiz hasta autogestionaria, construida desde la base de la sociedad con el concurso de los cuerpos intermedios, es decir, aplicando el principio de subsidiaridad para tratar de impedir un poder autoritario o absoluto y centralista, fuese este mon rquico o republicano. Este libro demuestra tambi n de forma fehaciente que, durante la primera mitad del r gimen del general Franco, no fue s lo la izquierda -y menos a n los pocos dem cratas liberales que hab a-, los que se opusieron al r gimen totalitario derechista del general Franco. No en balde se ha dicho que fueron los dos PC, es decir, los partidos comunista y carlista, las dos fuerzas num ricamente m s importantes de la poca que se opusieron a la dictadura y sufrieron una represi n permanente.
