Author Biography
Roberto Briceño-León (Venezuela, 1951). Sociólogo y doctor en Ciencias Sociales. Es profesor titular de Sociología de la Universidad Central de Venezuela. Ha sido profesor de La Sorbona en París y de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Ha sido investigador residente (fellow) de la Universidad de Oxford en el Saint Antony's College e investigador senior del Wilson International Center for Scholars de Washington D.C. Ha trabajado en proyectos de investigación y asesoría en África, Asia y América Latina. Tiene publicados más de 200 artículos en revistas científicas, así como 23 libros, entre ellos: La casa enferma. Sociología de la enfermedad de Chagas (1990), Venezuela: clases sociales e individuos (1992), Los efectos perversos del petróleo (2.a Edicion, 2015). Actualmente es director del Laboratorio de Ciencias Sociales y del Observatorio Venezolano de Violencia.
