Author Biography
Alejandro Ríos (La Habana, Cuba, 1952). Periodista, crítico de arte y de cine. Se ha desempeñado como reportero, jurado y conferencista en diversos festivales y eventos internacionales de cine y ha colaborado con una amplia variedad de publicaciones periódicas y libros especializados. Con frecuencia es consultado y citado por diarios, revistas, programas de radio y televisión, sobre temas referidos a la cultura cubana. Ríos se desempeña como especialista en los medios de comunicación hispanos para la Oficina de Prensa del Miami Dade College desde el año 1992, cuando se exilió en los Estados Unidos. En el 2003 dirigió el primer Festival de Cine Cubano Alternativo en el Teatro Tower del MDC, experiencia que luego repitió exitosamente en el 2009. Es parte del Comité de Autores Iberoamericanos de la Feria Internacional del Libro de Miami. Dirigió y presentó dos programas sobre cine cubano en TV Martí La Pantalla de Azogue y Pantalla TVM. Desde hace diez años escribe una columna semanal en El Nuevo Herald y conduce y produce el espacio de televisión La Mirada Indiscreta, sobre cine cubano, en el Canal 41, AmericaTeVe. La Mirada Indiscreta es también el título de este libro, el cual compila sus columnas publicadas en El Nuevo Herald entre los años 2007 y 2017. Es licenciado en Historia del Arte por la Universidad de La Habana.
