El 28 de septiembre de 2015 se estalló la violencia en una protesta social contra el proyecto minero chino Las Bambas, que extraía cobre de Apurímac, una región quechua en el Perú. Las conexiones globales de Las Bambas entrelazaban Cotabambas y Grau en los andes, con Melbourne en Australia y Pekín en China, mostrando un escenario de ejercicio de la colonialidad del poder con sujetos y colectivos que no pertenecen estrictamente al Norte Global, pero que sí se vinculan con él. Mediante una exploración marrón y decolonial este libro muestra cómo se manifiesta la colonialidad del poder en las actoras y los actores del sistema de justicia estatal peruano que participaron en aquella protesta y que en los años sucesivos continuaron con las investigaciones fiscales y procesos derivados de ella. El término marrón sirve para reivindicar una forma de ver el mundo. No se trata de recaer en la racialización del otro, sino de valorar esfuerzos epistemológicos no eurocéntricos, desde una perspectiva decolonial y un estudio cualitativo. En esa línea, el objetivo no solo es describir e interpretar lo sucedido, sino actuar para denunciar situaciones de dominación y acompañar a los sujetos y las sujetas de esta investigación.
