Ken Follett nació en Cardiff (Gales), pero cuando tenía diez años su familia se trasladó a Londres. Se licenció en filosofía en la Universidad de Londres y posteriormente trabajó como reportero del South Wales Echo, el periódico de su ciudad natal.
