No cruel act of harm was ever charged against him. He was the last person in Scotland to be executed under the Heritage Jurisdiction Act. The author, J. Gordon Phillips has penned an entertaining semi-fictional account of James MacPherson's life based on historic documents and legend. Classical novel elements of love, hate, war, peace and the struggle for personal freedom are woven throughout the story of James MacPherson, who excelled with sword and fiddle.
Author Biography
J. Gordon Phillips (1852-1900) has authored several historic novels of Scottish love and revenge including Wandering in the Highlands (1881), Cora Linn (1895), Flora MacDonald (1897), and The Laird's Wooing (1899). Mr. Phillips was born in New Mill Keith, lived in Glenlivet and died in Elgin, Scotland at 48 years.
