She holds a Diploma in Education from Fourah Bay College -- University of Sierra Leone, and a Master's in Urban Education from Iona College, NY. Married to an African American who spent several years as a missionary in Sierra Leone when they were young, she eventually returned with him to the US, where she taught English Language and Literature for 23 years in a New York suburban high school, and another 10 at a suburban community college.
