Author and Airbnb host Stephen Liddell has with his wife successfully supplemented family income by fully utilising Airbnb and other similar websites to make money. Back in 2013, Stephen decided to first share their accumulated knowledge to help others who wanted to make extra money for themselves by writing 'How To Get Rich Using Airbnb'. It was the first Airbnb how-to guide book and probably the most successful having achieved number one rankings in 2013, 2014 and 2015 across the USA, UK and Japan. In November 2014, Stephen, his house and book, were featured on the financial TV channel, Bloomber Television with a piece on how to run a successful Airbnb listing. A second and expanded edition of How to Get Rich Using Airbnb followed and continued to sell hundreds of copies across all electronic formats. November 2015 saw Stephen interviewed on the BBC as part of a live debate on Airbnb. As the hotel industry suffers from the ever increasing growth of the Airbnb market and with no official spokesperson available from Airbnb, it was naturally Stephen who the BBC turned to. Afterwards the presenter commented on not only what a nice guy Stephen is but on how amazing it was that so much money and rave-reviews could be made from a very average suburban home.
