La Historia del desarrollo de la educación en Lajas es el segundo volumen de la serie sobre Historia y Sociedad de Lajas que el Centro de Estudios e Investigaciones del Sur Oeste de Puerto Rico dirige junto a otras organizaciones cívico-culturales como el Centro Cultural "Anastasio Ruiz" de Lajas, el EcoMuseo Comunitario Migdalia Jusino Acosta y Surcando la Historia, Inc. El mismo presenta un análisis historiográfico sobre el desarrollo de la educación en lo que hoy día conocemos como el Municipio de Lajas. Parte del trabajo que se recopiló para esta obra surge de una investigación realizada con fondos de la Oficina Estatal de Conservación Histórica cuyo fin era presentar la Nominación para el Registro de Edificios Históricos de la Escuela Perry. La misma fue aprobada el 13 de diciembre de 2016. Originalmente, el proyecto de nominación nació de la inquietud surgida en cuanto al futuro de la estructura, la cual se construyó en su primera fase en 1904 y en la actualidad aún es utilizada para diversidad de proyectos. La Escuela Perry es uno de los centros emblemáticos que representa el desarrollo educativo, cultural y social de Lajas. Al igual que ella, cada uno de los planteles diseminados por todo Lajas tiene su historia y su valor en nuestra evolución como pueblo.
