DIANA ÁVILA (San José, 1952)Estudió Filología y Artes Dramáticas en la Universidad de Costa Rica. Fundó y participó en el grupo de teatro experimental Tierranegra y en el grupo de poetas Oruga. Trabajó durante varios años en San José, Lisboa y Ámsterdam como editora-traductora para la agencia de noticias Inter Press Service. Su libro El sueño ha terminado obtuvo el primer lugar en un certamen centroamericano y Contracanto fue finalista en el Premio Casa de las Américas. Su poesía ha sido traducida a varios idiomas y se encuentra en numerosas antologías y revistas literarias.
Su obra poética incluye los libros El sueño ha terminado (1976), Contracanto (1981), Mariposa entre los dientes (1991) y Cruce de vientos (2005).
