Jorge Valdano nació en Las Parejas, Provincia de Santa Fe (Argentina), y casi lo hizo con un balón en los pies. Ha sido jugador y entrenador de élite en equipos en dos continentes, como el Newell's Old Boys de Rosario con el que ganó un campeonato argentino o el Real Madrid, con el que consiguió dos Ligas (otra más como entrenador) y dos Copas de la UEFA. Con la Selección Argentina fue campeón del mundo en el Mundial de México 1986. En el Real Madrid ha ocupado el cargo de director deportivo y el de director general. También ha ejercido como director de la Escuela de Estudios Universitarios Real Madrid en la Universidad Europea, especializada en educación superior. Además, fue socio fundador de la empresa Makeateam y colabora con diversos medios de comunicación como la Cadena SER y Bein Sports (España), TV Azteca y diario Record (México), e imparte conferencias a nivel internacional.
