It followed the life and times of Jason McIvers, a trapper. Through a series of events he met and married an Indian woman, Tikah. This new edition of the book includes the original story and continues on with the story of Jason and Tikah's sons, Clayton and Tyson McIvers, the next generation. Being born of a white father and an Indian mother, the brothers were half Indian living in a white man's society. Clayton married an Indian woman and Tyson married a white woman. Between them they had four children. It is a story about pride and prejudices of the two Indian families trying to live among a white society in a growing western town called West Haven. "Embers on the Hearth, The Next Generation" is set in the late 1800's when sadly, the Indian culture was slowly fading away under the white man's dominance.
