Author Biography
Salvador Macip (Blanes, 1970) es médico, investigador y escritor. Dirige un grupo de investigación en la Universidad de Leicester, donde es catedrático de Medicina molecular en el departamento de Biología molecular y celular. Es, asimismo, catedrático y director de los Estudios de Ciencias de la Salud de la UOC e investigador del Instituto de Investigación contra la Leucemia Josep Carreras, en Barcelona. Ha publicado una cuarentena novelas, ensayos y libros infantiles. Su obra ha sido traducida a nueve idiomas y ha ganado diversos premios, como el Joaquim Ruyra, el Carlemany, el Europeo de Divulgación Científica y el Ramon Muntaner. Entre sus libros de divulgación destacan Las grandes epidemias modernas, ¿Viviremos para siempre?, Lecciones de una pandemia y ¿Qué nos hace humanos? Colabora regularmente en varios medios de comunicación.
Manel Esteller (Sant Boi de Llobregat, 1968) es una de las autoridades mundiales más importantes en epigenética y en la investigación sobre cáncer. Médico, investigador y catedrático de Genética en la Universitat de Barcelona y en la Institución Catalana de Investigación y Estudios Avanzados (ICREA), de 2001 a 2008 lideró el Grupo de Epigenética del Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas (CNIO) de Madrid, y a continuación pasó a dirigir el Programa de Epigenética y Biología del Cáncer (PEBC) del campus biomédico de Bellvitge hasta el 2019. Actualmente es el director del Instituto de Investigación contra la Leucemia Josep Carreras, en Barcelona. Entre otros galardones, ha sido distinguido con el premio de Investigación Severo Ochoa, el premio Nacional de Genética, el premio Rey Jaime I, el premio Nacional de Investigación de la Generalitat de Catalunya y el premio Internacional Catalunya.
