Marina Castañeda Gutman nació en la ciudad de México en 1956. Es psicoterapeuta, autora y conferencista. De formación interdisciplinaria por gusto y convicción, estudió letras, historia, psicología y música en las universidades de Harvard y Stanford y en la École Normale Supérieure de París, entre otras. Ha vivido en México, Estados Unidos, Francia, Suiza y Egipto. Su libro sobre la psicología de la homosexualidad ha sido publicado en Francia, Italia y Brasil, y en México bajo el título La experiencia homosexual (1999). Su segundo libro, El machismo invisible, publicado en México (2002; El machismo invisible regresa, nueva edición, Taurus 2007) y Brasil (2006) examinó otro tema de gran vigencia en la sociedad actual. En 2006 apareció en México La nueva homosexualidad, que examina algunos aspectos sociales, económicos, jurídicos y culturales de la homosexualidad hoy día. En 2010 apareció su primera novela, Amores virtuales, un thriller psicológico sobre los aspectos oscuros y luminosos de Internet. En 2011 publicó Escuchar(nos), un ensayo sobre las dimensiones psicológica, social y ética de la escucha en la actualidad; está obra también fue publicada en Francia en 2013.
