Author Biography
José Aníbal Cruz García, médico psiquiatra. Nació en Santo Domingo, República Dominicana. Se graduó de Doctor en Medicina en la Universidad autónoma de Santo Domingo (28 de octubre, 1967) y cursó estudios de postgrado en la Universidad de Miami. Florida (1968). Ingresó como residente en la escuela de psiquiatría de la Menninger Foundation en Topeka, Kansas (1971-1974) donde recibió el grado de Psiquiatra. Fue director médico del Osawatomie State hospital, (Kansas) (1974-1977). Posteriormente, se radicó en la ciudad de Winter Haven, Florida, donde practicó Psiquiatría privada hasta 1986. Durante este periodo fue director clínico del departamento de Psiquiatria del Winter Haven Hospital. En 1987 se trasladó a la ciudad de Miami donde ejerció la psiquiatría privada por 17 años y fungió además como director médico del Departamento de psiquiatría y del programa de drogas y alcohol del South Shore Hospital Medical Center, Miami Beach. Entre 1988 y 1992, se desempeñó como director médico de la unidad de psiquiatría del hospital Larkin en la ciudad de Miami, institución en la que elaboro hasta el Año 2004. Integró parte del personal médico del departamento de psiquiatría del Mount Sinai Hospital de Miami Beach (1993-1997) ejerció también su profesión en el Cedars Medical Center (1987-2004), donde fue electo como chairman del departamento de psiquiatría (2003-2004). En el 2005, se desempeñó como profesor clínico del programa de residencia psiquiátrica del hospital Larkin, en la ciudad de Miami. En la actualidad el Dr. Cruz está retirado de la práctica de la psiquiatría y dedica la mayor parte de su tiempo a la investigación y publicación literaria, colabora como articulista del periódico digital "Acento".
