Elena Poniatowska (París, 1932) Con tan sólo nueve años se trasladó a México, donde se nacionalizó mexicana. Su carrera se inició en el ejercicio del periodismo en 1953, disciplina que nunca ha abandonado. Doctora Honoris Causa por ocho universidades y galardonada con el Premio Nacional de Lingüística y Literatura en 2002, entre sus novelas destacan: Hasta no verte Jesús mío (1969, Premio Mazatlán), La noche de Tlatelolco (1971, Premio Xavier Villaurrutia, rechazado), Querido Diego, te abraza Quiela (1978), La Flor de Lis (1988), Tinísima (1992, Premio Mazatlán), Paseo de la Reforma (1996), La piel del cielo (2001, Premio Alfaguara), El tren pasa primero (2007, Premio Rómulo Gallegos), Leonora (2011, Premio Seix Barral) y El universo o nada. Biografía del estrellero Guillermo Haro (2013). También ha escrito cuentos, reunidos en De noche vienes (1979) y Tlapalería (2003), libros de entrevistas, ensayos y crónicas.
