One of the men was hanged three times because the rope kept coming loose.The second part of the book covers another forty years after the electric chair was implemented in 1916 and replaced the gallows. Some days there was only one electrocution, some days four men would die in the chair one after the other. Death by electrocution was over in two or three minutes.
