Pilar López Ávila (Cartagena, 1969) es Doctora en Veterinaria por la Universidad de Extremadura, y en la actualidad imparte docencia como profesora de Biología y Geología en el IES "Norba Caesarina" de Cáceres. Entre sus publicaciones caben destacar Las divertidas aventuras de las letras (Bruño, 2010), Ayobami y el nombre de los animales (Cuento de Luz, 2017), por el que obtiene medalla de oro en los Latino Books Awards, y es seleccionado como mejor álbum ilustrado por el New York Times y la Biblioteca de Nueva York en 2018; El pequeño colibrí tiene un problema (Bruño, 2019), La cometa de los sueños (Cuento de Luz, 2019), Lávate las manos, María (Bruño, 2020).
