Marx sometio a dura critica la afirmacion de Lassalle en el sentido de que en relacion con la clase obrera, todas las demas clases constituyen solamente una masa reaccionarla; demostro que esta tesis negaba la alianza entre el proletariado y el campesinado. Puso de manifiesto, asimismo, el contenido reaccionario de la ley de bronce del salario, de Lassalle, ley que perpetuaba la miseria del proletariado. En la Critica del Programa de Gotha se elucidan los problemas fundamentales del comunismo cientifico. Marx desarrollo la tesis de la inevitabilidad de la revolucion socialista, del establecimiento de la dictadura del proletariado, hizo un analisis cientifico del futuro de la sociedad comunista. En este trabajo, por primera vez se expuso la idea relativa a la necesidad de un periodo de transicion en el proceso que lleva del capitalismo al comunismo, a la necesidad de la dictadura revolucionaria del proletariado como Estado de dicho periodo. Representa tambien una aportacion esencial para el comunismo cientifico, la definicion de Marx del socialismo y del comunismo como dos fases de la formacion comunista, como grados de la madurez economica del comunismo (Lenin). Marx mostro que solo en la fase superior de la sociedad comunista, se acabara con los males inherentes al capitalismo, se superara la esclavizacion del hombre, su sometimiento a la division del trabajo, desaparecera la contradiccion entre trabajo intelectual y trabajo fisico, el trabajo se convertira de un medio de vida en la primera necesidad vital, las fuerzas productivas alcanzaran un grado tal de desarrollo que quedara asegurada la abundancia de productos y la sociedad podra escribir en sus banderas: De cada uno segun su capacidad, a cada uno segun sus necesidades.
