Author Biography
James W. Morrison is an Army veteran and retired senior executive in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. He is a graduate of the National War College, as well as Indiana and Columbia Universities, and served as a visiting fellow at the National Defense University. He is the author of the historical drama "Bedford Goes to War," which has been performed eight times over three years, and the history "Bedford Goes to War: The Heroic Story of a Small Virginia Community in World War II," which was selected from 60 nonfiction books nominated for the 2005 Library of Virginia Literary Awards as one of five finalists for a People's Choice Award. He is also the author of two books on international affairs and other works. Morrison has been active in and at one time or another served as president of the Virginia Writers Club, its Valley Writers Chapter, and the Lake Writers at Smith Mountain Lake in southwest Virginia. He lives with his wife, Edie, at Smith Mountain Lake, in Moneta, Virginia. The Morrisons have two grown children and two grandchildren.
