ANTONIO LEDEZMA (San Juan de Los Morros, Venezuela, 1955) es abogado con postgrado en Gerencia Pública, graduado con honores en la Universidad Metropolitana y Dr. Honoris Causa de la Universidad Rómulo Gallegos. Fue Gobernador de Caracas, luego Alcalde del municipio Libertador y posteriormente Alcalde Metropolitano de la gran Caracas. Legislador a los 23 años y diputado y senador al Congreso Nacional de la República hasta 1995, fue uno de los líderes democráticos que al lado del presidente Carlos Andrés Pérez enfrentó los golpes militaristas del 4 de febrero y 27 de noviembre de 1992, en su condición de Gobernador del Dtto. Federal de Caracas. Protagonizó en 2009 una huelga de hambre en la sede de la OEA, con el fin de denunciar los abusos contra la descentralización. Promovió la Transición para Venezuela y terminó preso más de mil días, hasta que emprendió una fuga, el 16 de noviembre de 2017, que lo mantiene en el exilio, en España. Está casado con Mitzy Capriles de Ledezma y ha recibido, entre otras, estas distinciones: Premio Sajarov, otorgado por el Parlamento Europeo en 2018; Premio Cortes de Cádiz, en 2017; Premio a la Defensa de los Derechos Humanos en Venezuela, otorgado por el Congreso de los Estados Unidos; Premio Human Rights and Democracy, Ginebra; Medalla de Honor del Congreso de la República de Perú, 2018.
