Cuando se publica este libro, Ed Stafford es el actual Aventu¬rero del Año; estuvo también entre los ?nalistas del Aventurero del Año 2010 de National Geographic, y posee un Récord Mundial Guinness por su tenacidad y coraje (¡y por sus pies!). Ed comenzó a participar en expediciones mundiales después de retirarse del ejército británico con el grado de capitán en el 2002. Cuando no dirigía viajes, trabajaba con las Naciones Unidas en Afganistán como asistente de la primera campaña presidencial en ese país. Antes de este viaje, Ed colaboró con la BBC en su serie conservacio¬nista La tierra perdida del jaguar.
