Bettina von Arnim (1785-1859) war eine deutsche Schriftstellerin und bedeutende Vertreterin der deutschen Romantik. Bettina Brentano war das siebte von zw lf Kindern des Gro kaufmanns Peter Anton Brentano und seiner zweiten Frau Maximiliane von La Roche. Die aus Italien stammende altadelige Familie war beg tert. 1811 heiratete Bettina Brentano Achim von Arnim, den sie bereits in Frankfurt als Freund und literarischen Arbeitskollegen ihres Bruders Clemens Brentano kennengelernt hatte. Bettina von Arnims literarisches und soziales Engagement trat erst nach dem Tod ihres Mannes 1831, dessen Werke sie herausgab, ins Licht der ffentlichkeit. Die neue Autonomie, die der Witwenstand erm glichte, f hrte zu einer Verst rkung ihres ffentlichen Wirkens. Bei der Choleraepidemie in Berlin engagierte sie sich f r soziale Hilfsma nahmen in den Armenvierteln und pflegte Erkrankte. Sie schrieb das sozialkritische Buch Dies Buch geh rt dem K nig (1843). Das aus fiktiven Dialogen zwischen der Mutter Goethes und der Mutter des preu ischen K nigs bestehende Werk wurde in Bayern verboten. 1854 erlitt Bettina von Arnim einen Schlaganfall, von dem sie sich nie mehr erholte. Konrad Alberti (1862-1918) war ein deutscher Schriftsteller, Biograf, Literaturhistoriker und Chefredakteur der Berliner Morgenpost.
