The work and influence of Alejandra Pizarnik continue to grow. Numerous readers from all around the world keep her literature alive, and more and more researchers study this still enigmatic poet. Cristina Piña wrote a first version of this biography thirty years ago, and today, collaborating with Patricia Venti, they render this extended edition with a huge number of new materials. The authors referred to the poet's complete journals, kept in Princeton University Library, along with her notebooks, manuscripts, letters, and plastic works. They had long conversations with friends of the poet, and specially with her sister, Myriam. They traveled to Paris to interview the family of her father's--Elías Pizarnik--brothers. One of them, Simón, welcomed Alejandra on several occasions at his Chatenay-Malabry home during her nearly four-year stay in the city. They also had access to Manuel Mujica Lainez and Silvina Ocampo's papers at Princeton, and to Djuna Barnes' at the University of Maryland, the three of them linked to the poet. Cristina Piña es poeta, ensayista, profesora y traductora. Publicó doce libros de poemas y doce libros de ensayo y crítica literaria, de los cuales siete están dedicados a Alejandra Pizarnik. Profesora titular de Teoría Literaria en la Facultad de Humanidades de la Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata, actualmente es profesora emérita por dicha universidad. Ha dictado conferencias y seminarios en España, Reino Unido, República Checa, París, Israel y México. En 1982 ganó la Beca Fulbright y en 1998 la Beca de Traducción del Ministerio de Cultura de Francia. Tradujo del inglés y del francés más de ciento cincuenta libros y piezas teatrales, por los cuales recibió diversos premios, entre ellos el Konex en Teoría Literaria y Lingüística (1996-2006), el Konex de Platino en Traducción (2004-2014) y la Mención de Honor Domingo Faustino Sarmiento del Senado de la Nación por su trayectoria, en 2011.
Patricia Venti se licenció en Letras en la Universidad del Zulia, Maracaibo, Venezuela. Realizó varios estudios de especialización en Alemania y España, entre ellos un máster en Literatura Iberoamericana y una diplomatura en Lexicografía. En 2007, se doctoró en Literatura Latinoamericana por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Después de dos décadas dedicada a la filología y a la investigación en el campo de las letras y con varios libros publicados, decidió dar un vuelco a su carrera profesional y estudió dirección cinematográfica en Madrid y Praga.
